If you’re looking for exceptional smile, a natural feeling tooth replacement, to be carried out without compromise, we invite you to consider dental implants at AR Smiles.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a device that looks a little bit like a precision-engineered screw; they are specifically made to replicate a natural tooth. It is completely safe, and entirely hidden beneath the gum, so you can get still get a stunning tooth coloured and natural replacement for teeth! It is made from medical-grade metal and acts just like a tooth root once placed into the jaw bone. It is attached to a device called an abutment which serves as a base for crowns or bridges. The final crown or bridge is the only part that is visible above the gum line and this part will be made to look exactly like a tooth – either to match existing teeth or to provide a new smile.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dentures have come a long way over the last few years, and are much more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing than they used to be. However, dental implants do have some key benefits that dentures simply cannot provide.

Implants preserve the jaw bone that is naturally absorbed when you lose a tooth. This bone maintains your facial structure and looks, so when it degrades there can be a stark difference in your appearance. Implants slow this process down, preserving your face shape.

Most patients report functional eating and speech security you get with dental implants is also superior to dentures. In addition to this, we are able to replace teeth without touching or using any other adjacent natural teeth in your mouth!

With dental implants you can leave behind that worry about embarrassing and annoying denture slippage. You can also leave behind denture sores and discomfort too, as implants are extremely secure and are fixed firmly in place in the mouth.

The Implant Process

The implant process at AR Smiles will usually involve the following stages:

1: Consultation

We will invite you in for a thorough consultation with us to discuss your needs and expectations.

We will examine your teeth, gums, oral tissues and jaw, as well as discussing your dental and medical history with you. We will also discuss lifestyle factors that can affect the likelihood of treatment success. During this time we will also answer all of your questions and carry out diagnostics like X-rays or scans if necessary.

In the event you are unsuitable for implants, we will take the time to discuss alternatives with you.

2: Implant Fitting

Once a treatment plan has been made and agreed by you, we will arrange for you to come in for treatment. On the day you will have local anaesthetic to ensure that you can’t feel any pain at all during the process.

Once you are comfortable, we will place the implant in a precise, planned location in your mouth and then apply a dressing. We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to take home with you.

3: Healing

For a few months your implant will be healing and bonding with the jawbone. This process takes some time, during which it is important you follow our aftercare instructions to give your implant the best possible chance of being successful.

4: Completion

Once the healing has taken place we can complete the treatment and place your permanent bridges or crowns. Following this completion, with the right care and maintenance, your stunning new implants could last a lifetime!

If you suffer with tooth loss, are fed up with dentures or a gappy smile, please contact the implant team at AR Smiles to discuss how we can help. You can reach us on 020 8856 7759 and we’ll be pleased to help.
